Swirling steam gently cascades over the rim of the mug.
The subtle scent of cinnamon
Causes a smile to play across your lips.
Closing your eyes, you tilt your head
And breathe in the pure, clean, air.
Shivering, but happy, you cup your hands
Tightly around the warm ceramic, seeking comfort.
Sunshine peeks over the fence, touches your face.
Wrapped in your sweater, you sigh, watching your breath
Escape in a cloud to join the fragrant steam.
This is autumn, not just because the leaves
Are exchanging their summer glow
For a modest, subtle orange --
But because you feel that gentle, slow shift in seasons
And you know that your friend, sweet Autumn, has come.

Sweaters, knit hats, fuzzy socks, boots...
Pumpkin pie, apple pie, hot chocolate, oatmeal...
Cuddle time, blankets, conversation, bonfires...
Crunchy leaves, refreshing breezes, clear skies, rays of gentle sunlight...
I find the beauty of autumn in little things. They bring me such a nostalgic feeling, so much excitement, so many memories. I like this season. I really do.
And personally, I think autumn sounds more romantic than fall. :)
